On the afternoon of Oct. 25th, 2021, SNERDI Vice President Cai Qiang attended the virtual meeting held between SPIC and Eskom, the largest electricity producer in Africa. SNERDI introduced the company profile, nuclear industry achievements, development background of integrated smart energy, “nuclear+” projects and the value for South Africa’s energy industry.
Besides, SPIC introduced its clean energy industry, international business and its transformation from one of the largest coal-fired generators in China to the World’s largest clean energy producer as well as fuel cell, PEM electrolyzer, green hydrogen production and delivery.
After the introduction, both sides conducted exchanges on “Guohe One (CAP1400)+” seawater desalination, and further cooperation on renewable energy and integrated smart energy.
This meeting was hosted by SPIC International Business Department and cohosted by China-Africa Development Fund undertaken by China Development Bank. Present at this meeting were Richard Vaughan, Eskom CFO, Mandy Rambharos, Eskom General Manager of Just Energy Transition, Vikesh Rajpaul, Senior Manager of Renewable Energy, and relevant representatives from SPIC and its subsidiaries including SNERDI, HHDC and SPIC Hydrogen Energy.
With the support of China National Energy Administration, SPIC is committed to the development of South Africa’s energy market and attaches great importance to the cooperation with Eskom and other enterprises in South Africa. SPIC would like to enhance cooperation in decarbonization, green energy transition and nuclear power projects with Eskom and other local energy enterprises in South Africa by promoting its clean energy technologies and solutions.
