From September 23-26, 2019, Shanghai Nuclear Engineering Research & Design Institute (SNERDI) is invited to attend the meeting of the ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers)/ANS (American Nuclear Society) Joint Committee on Nuclear Risk Management (JCNRM) in Bethesda, MD USA. Professionals and experts from U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission, U.S. Department of Energy, Electric Power Research Institute, International Atomic Energy Agency, National Laboratories and well-known entities are gathering together for the preparation and maintenance of voluntary consensus standards that establish safety and risk criteria and methods for completion of probabilistic risk analysis (PRA).
Representing China International Working Group of JCNRM, SNERDI introduces progress and planning on risk management in the nation, discusses the revised versions of ASME/ANS PRA standards and submits latest issues on Physical/Cyber RI-Security as well as development roadmap of Multi-Units Probabilistic Risk Analysis.
Since releasing of ASME/ANS-RA-Sb-2013, the update of PRA standards is difficult to implement due to the inconformity of broad areas related to PRA. Members of JCNRM propose active communication amongst all walks to complete the revised version as quickly as possible.
Founded in 1880, ASME is a 127000+ member professional organization focused on technical, educational and research issues of the engineering and technology community. ASME conducts one of the world’s largest technical publishing operations, holds numerous technical conferences worldwide, and offers hundreds of professional development courses each year. SNERDI cooperates with ASME in setting internationally recognized industrial and manufacturing codes and standards that enhance public safety and contribute to the implementation of PSA works in China.
