From May 20 to 22, 2019, the final competition and award ceremony of 2019 American Society for Quality (ASQ) International Team of Excellence Award (ITEA), the global voice of quality, was held in Texas, USA. The Human Factors Engineering (HFE) team from Shanghai Nuclear Engineering Research & Design Institute (SNERDI) was honored China’s first ITEA Gold Level Award, which made a historical breakthrough and displayed vitality and influence of China’s nuclear power.

ASQ’s International Team Excellence Award is the world’s premier team recognition program—awarding achievements in improved performance in businesses of all sizes. As a global benchmark of ASQ, ITEA requires highly strict criteria to evaluate excellent performance of team. Since sSeet up in 1985, thousands of teams from the world’s most successful companies have participated in ITEA. Experiences on how quality concepts were being used by teams within organizations will be shared and introduced to make valuable improvements of profitability.

In 2019, revised version of ITEA criteria was introduced during 2018-2019 session. The ‘Renovation Project of Human Resources on Qinshan-I Nuclear Power Plant Main Control Room’ presented by SNERDI integrated quality concept, quality technology and quality tools, implemented full-scope processes of quality management, and leveraged team management performance efficiency and design service quality.
