From April 8 to 11, 2019, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) held the “Consultancy Meeting on Design Modification Process for Nuclear Power Plants and Projects" at its headquarters in Vienna, Austria. SNERDI delegation, as well as other experts from Canada, France, the United Kingdom, the United States, Finland, the republic of Korea, Ukraine was invited to attend the meeting.

To provide guidance on effective and efficient design modification process for nuclear power project and plants in all life stages, IAEA initiated a new IAEA publication to establish the outline, content and context focused on the design modification control process, key control elements, evaluate design modification, and the effective transmission and implementation of design modification information in the process of design, construction, commissioning and operation.

During the meeting, SNERDI delegation presented the report on Communication and Linkage in Design Modification Process, and introduced the design modification evaluation and impact analysis experiences. The view of communication and linkage got the unanimous approval of the expert that this publication will become a design modification management guiding document for each member in the future. It will have an important impact on the design modification management and standardized design of future global nuclear power plants and projects.
