From April 8 to 12, 2019, delegation from Shanghai Nuclear Engineering Research & Design Institute Co., Ltd. (SNERDI) visited the Global Research for Safety (GRS) on behalf of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), for the Third Meeting of Working Group 2 on Electrical and I&C Components of the International Generic Ageing Lessons Learned (IGALL) Program Phase 4.
SNERDI was invited to review new Ageing Management Programs for fiber optical cable, spare parts storage and environmental qualification re-assessment. And to enhance and improve nuclear power plant ageing management and safety culture practices, attendees shared experiences on current and developing new Ageing Management Programs, discussed time-limited ageing analysis issues, and proposed suggestions for IGALL Phase 5 (2020-2021).
The purpose of the IGALL Programme is to assist regulators and operators of nuclear power plants to maintain the required safety level during operation considering the existing degradation mechanisms, and to provide generic support in identification of criteria and practices at the national level applicable to continued operation of the plants. IGALL Phase 4, formally launched after IGALL Steering Committee in December 2017, is scheduled for 2018 – 2019 and is focused on further improvement of completeness and correctness of the IGALL, as such as on assisting Member States in IGALL application.
