From March 27 to 29, 2019, delegation from Shanghai Nuclear Engineering Research & Design Institute Co., Ltd. (SNERDI) was invited to attend KONTEC 2019 – 14th international symposium “Conditioning of Radioactive Operational & Decommissioning Wastes” including 14th status report of BMBF (Federal Ministry of Education and Research) “Decommissioning and Dismantling of Nuclear Facilities” held in Dresden, Germany.
During the symposium, SNERDI introduced historical footprint of the institute, presented the achievements obtained through implementation of national science and technology major project, and shared experiences of nuclear facility decommissioning and waste management. The delegation also communicated and discussed topis on demolition of large components, decontamination of full system, clearance of waste and so on with well-known nuclear technology service providers such as NUKEM Technologies, STEAG and GNS. Multi- or bilateral exchanges have been drafted to seek potential cooperation possibilities on nuclear facility decommissioning and waste management.
Since 1993, the KONTEC-Symposium brings together power plant operators, plant constructors, service providers as well as third party suppliers and representatives of authoritiesto exchange information and experiences of the conditioning of radioactive operational and decommissioning waste, and the dismantling of power reactors.
