Shanghai, Jun. 29, 2011- Jun. 22, 2011, host by SNPTC, co-organized by SNERDI and SNPEC, IAEA Workshop on Construction Technologies for NPPs was launched at SNERDI.
The purpose of this workshop is to provide the IAEA Member States in the Asia region with different technologies available for the construction of nuclear power plants, with a view to assisting Member States planning construction projects, to shorten the construction period, improve quality and maintain the project budget. Approximately 40 experts from 11 countries attended this meeting. Participant organizations and companies included: IAEA, CAEA, Canadian AECL, Korean KHNP, Hitachi-GE, CNEC, CGNPC, CPI, SNPTC and its affiliated institutions, etc.
Mr. Dou Yikang, Deputy Chief Engineer of SNERDI, made a welcome speech on behalf of SNERDI President, Dr. Zheng Mingguang. He then gave a brief introduction on the operation and construction conditions of China NPPs. Representatives from IAEA, KHNP, AECL successively made presentations on issues of “IAEA Activities on NPP Construction Technologies and Nuclear Power Technology Development”, “Status and Plans of New Nuclear Build in Korea”, “Construction Technology Related to Site Preparation and Civil Works in Korea”, “Case Study Past and Recent Experiences from AECL-Qinshan Project”.
Participants had lively exchange and discussion around the theme.
