On July 8, 2015 Local time, a cooperative agreement on the Generic Reactor Safety Review (GRSR) of CAP1400 was signed by Dr. Zheng Mingguang, President of SNERDI, and Denis Flory, Deputy Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) at the Vienna International center. Mr. Li Junjie, Minister Counselor, the Permanent Mission of China to the IAEA, was also present at the signing ceremony.

Detailed review will be performed by experts organized by the IAEA on the safety documents of CAP1400 and is estimated to be completed in next January. Through this review, the IAEA will make suggestions about the design of CAP1400 so as to better meet the requirements of the IAEA’s basic safety principles.

With the responsibility for safeguards and peaceful use of atomic energy, the IAEA will gather experts from all over the world, whose review reports are of important reference value for the nuclear power regulatory organizations of the IAEA’s 151 member states.

During his stay, Dr. Zheng mingguang also visited Mr. Mikhail Chudakov, Deputy Director General of the IAEA.
