On October 15, 2016, Pakistan’s Chashma Unit 3 (C3) was connected to the country’s power grid at a ceremony attended by the Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission, Shanghai Nuclear Engineering Research & Design Institute and China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC).
Construction began on the Chinese-designed pressurized water reactor in 2011, and the unit is expected to enter commercial operation before the end of this year. Unit 4, which began construction 9 months after C3, is currently undergoing commissioning and is expected to enter commercial operation in 2017.
As the designer and technical supporter of C1-C4, SNERDI is committed to provide reliable and strong technologies to utilities in Pakistan. The former units C1, C2 are already supplying electricity to the grid for many years, which are considered to be the best energy generating units in the country with more than 90% capacity factor consistently.
